EU REACH Regulation (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) 56: Do not place on the market or use an Annex XIV substance after its sunset date without an authorisation or exemption

What does 56 require?

A manufacturer, importer or downstream user may not place an Annex XIV substance on the market for a use, or use it itself, unless that use (including incorporation into an article) is authorised, is exempted in Annex XIV, the sunset date has not been reached, it applied at least 18 months before the sunset date and the decision is pending, or, when placing on the market, the use has been authorised for its immediate downstream user. Scientific research and development, plant protection, biocidal and motor fuel uses, fuel uses of mineral oil products in combustion plants and closed systems, certain cosmetic and food contact uses for substances listed only for human health hazards, and presence in mixtures below 0.1 % (for PBT, vPvB and equivalent concern substances) or below the CLP classification limits are outside the requirement.
