Notified bodies must assess conformity using the Annex III to VII and IX procedures, proportionately and without unnecessary burden, taking account of client size, sector, structure, technology complexity and mass or series production while keeping the rigour and protection the Directive requires. Where a manufacturer has not met Annex II or the relevant standards or specifications, the body must require corrective action and not issue a certificate; where monitoring after certification shows a product no longer complies, it must require corrective action and suspend or withdraw the certificate if necessary; and where corrective action is not taken or fails, it must restrict, suspend or withdraw certificates as appropriate.
