Chapter IV: Supervision, administrative measures and pecuniary sanctions – EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1640)

EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/1640) 60: Protect staff who report AML/CFT breaches under the Whistleblower Directive

What does 60 require?

Directive (EU) 2019/1937 applies to reports of breaches of the AML Regulation, the transfers of funds Regulation and this Directive, and to the protection of reporting persons and persons concerned; supervisory authorities run the external reporting channels and follow-up for requirements on obliged entities. Obliged entities therefore need internal reporting channels, follow-up and protection against retaliation that meet that Directive for AML/CFT breaches, alongside the internal reporting duties of the AML Regulation.
