ESRS (revised 2026) E1-7: Energy consumption and mix

What does E1-7 require?

The undertaking reports the energy its own operations consumed in MWh, split between fossil, nuclear and renewable sources; undertakings in high climate impact sectors further split fossil consumption into coal and coal products, crude oil and petroleum products, natural gas, other fossil sources and purchased fossil electricity, heat, steam or cooling; energy producers disclose non-renewable and renewable production separately. Calculation excludes non-combusted feedstocks, uses lower heating values and final energy consumption, avoids double counting of self-generated energy, does not offset sold energy, treats third-party waste heat as purchased, counts only fully renewable hydrogen as renewable, and splits renewable from non-renewable conservatively, stating whether the market-based or location-based approach is used and relying on clearly defined contractual instruments for market-based renewable claims.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 3 controls across 3 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
