A generator must not treat, store, dispose of, transport or offer for transport hazardous waste without an EPA identification number, obtained by filing EPA Form 8700-12, and must not offer its waste to transporters or TSDFs that lack an EPA identification number. SQGs must re-notify on Form 8700-12 every four years starting in 2021, by September 1 of each re-notification year; LQGs must re-notify by March 1 of each even-numbered year, which may be done with the Biennial Report. A recognized trader must hold an EPA identification number before arranging an import or export.
