EN 301 549 V4.1.1 - Accessibility requirements for ICT products and services 5.1.3: 5.1.3 Non-visual access

Sixteen requirements for closed functionality that needs sight: 5.1.3.1 visual information needed for use offered through non-visual means including audio; 5.1.3.2 audio delivered by a built-in mechanism, a personal headset on a 3.5 mm jack found without vision, or, for a personal device only, any industry-standard headset link; 5.1.3.3 the audio covers all non-decorative information on the current screen; 5.1.3.4 speech can be interrupted and repeated on request, security permitting; 5.1.3.5 feedback speech stops when the user acts or new speech begins; 5.1.3.6 alternatives for non-text content spoken unless decorative; 5.1.3.7 an auditory equivalent for pre-recorded video the ICT originates, and passing on one supplied with external video; 5.1.3.8 masked characters not spoken unless output is private or the user opts in; 5.1.3.9 on public shared ICT, data private under the applicable policy only through private listening connectable without vision or a channel the user chooses; 5.1.3.10 no automatically played interfering sound over 3 seconds; 5.1.3.11 a volume control usable without sight when listening privately; 5.1.3.12 a non-visual incremental speaker volume control reaching at least 65 dBA; 5.1.3.13 on public shared ICT, private listening volume reset to 65 dBA or less after each use; 5.1.3.14 speech in the language of the displayed content, with four exceptions (proper names and similar terms, external content in unsupported languages, languages not selectable non-visually, a user-chosen other language); 5.1.3.15 detected input errors announced in speech; 5.1.3.16 tickets, receipts and other transaction outputs needed to complete or check the transaction given through non-visual means including audio.
