A lawyer acting for a client may not discuss the subject of the representation with a party the lawyer knows is represented by another lawyer in that matter, unless that lawyer agrees or the law authorises the contact. Connecticut treats a party for whom only a limited appearance has been filed under Practice Book section 3-8(b) as unrepresented for everything outside the scope of that appearance, so once the limited appearance has been served or notified, the lawyer may deal directly with that party on matters outside its scope without going through the limited-appearance lawyer.
