IT products and services that are new or altered, together with their service level options, are defined and agreed, and the definitions are recorded so the product and service portfolio can be updated: proposed definitions of new or altered products and services are checked for fitness for purpose and recorded in the portfolio's list of items to build; proposed new or altered service level options (for example service hours, satisfaction of users, availability, capacity, performance, privacy, security, continuity, usability and compliance) make sure products and services can be used as intended; business relationship management and portfolio management agree the definitions and the options; and changes that fall within the agreed approval authority are built, while others go to portfolio management for investment review.
