Progress against the plan is monitored and controlled over the investment's whole economic life, looking at solution delivery for the programme and at value and outcomes for the enterprise, with reports to key stakeholders and corrective action taken: operational I&T portfolios are revised for the services, assets and resources the programme alters; the programme and its projects, business and IT contributions included, are tracked and reported promptly, fully and accurately; delivery is monitored against the strategies and goals of both the enterprise and I&T, reporting the changes made, benefits achieved compared with the plan, and whether the benefits process is adequate; new or altered IT services, assets and resources are followed with their implementation and in-service dates and reported for performance, benefits sustained and adjustments needed; the programme is managed against key criteria (scope, schedule, quality, benefits, cost, risk, velocity) with deviations found and corrected; the effect of each project's performance on the programme is watched; and progress is reported at stage-gate, release or iteration reviews so that management can decide to continue, stop or adjust.
