The documents that frame the roles are the Responsible Care Global Charter (the senior leaders' commitment), the eight Fundamental Features (how associations discharge their role), the Responsible Care Codes drawn up by the American Chemistry Council, recognised internationally and adopted or adapted in several countries (community awareness and emergency response, product stewardship, security, health and safety, process safety, environmental protection, plus Cefic's own European Responsible Care Security Code), and this management framework with its self-assessment tool. ICCA reviews the documentation from time to time; Cefic periodically revisits the commitments, the Fundamental Features and its guidelines, updates the framework as changes take effect and notifies national associations.
