Cefic Responsible Care Management Framework
Chapter 2: From commitment to action (roles of companies, national associations, Cefic, ICCA; the eight Fundamental Features) – Cefic Responsible Care Management Framework

Cefic Responsible Care Management Framework 2.1.2: National associations: core elements of the role

What does 2.1.2 require?

Each national chemical industry association promotes and supports Responsible Care among its members, attracts new members and communicates the commitment to stakeholders, working with companies, Cefic and ICCA. Its core duties: implement the eight Fundamental Features in all its Responsible Care activity (national guiding principles consistent with the Global Charter, the licensed logo); lead national promotion and communication; keep collecting and reporting aggregate data and KPIs from members as ICCA and Cefic require; adopt and promote the new products developed internationally, such as those from the Cefic Rejuvenation Project; encourage growing maturity and continual improvement through self-assessment tools; and help share lessons from incidents and best practice. Associations differ in size, scope and maturity and need flexibility, but Responsible Care must be applied everywhere in a way that drives continual improvement and stays consistent with the international direction of the brand.
