Module 4: Governance – CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project)

CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) 4.7-4.8: Questions 4.7 to 4.8.1: Portfolio policy framework, exclusions and covenants (financial services)

Financial institutions state whether their policy framework for portfolio activities includes environmental requirements for clients and investees and/or exclusion policies; detail the requirement policies (issues, portfolio coverage, requirements such as net-zero commitments or deforestation-free sourcing, linked targets) and the exclusion policies (industries, activities and locations excluded, exposure affected, phase-out timeline); and banks state whether financing covenants reflect and enforce environmental policies. CDP's ambition includes a public commitment to stop new financing for new coal mines and unabated coal power and for new long-lead upstream oil and gas projects.
