Module 4: Governance – CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project)

CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) 4.3-4.4: Questions 4.3 to 4.4: Management responsibility and management competency

The organisation states whether management-level responsibility exists for each environmental issue and names the highest senior management positions or committees responsible (no names), their responsibilities (assessing dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities, setting and tracking targets, policies, transition plan, public policy engagement, acquisitions), the reporting line to the board and how often they report; organisations without a board state whether management has environmental competency. CDP's ambition is senior responsibility assigned to specific roles with a direct line to the board, informed monitoring of environmental issues, and responsibility for policies, targets and controls; climate leadership points require the board's governance mechanisms to match the responsibilities management holds.
