To recognise environmentally and socially considerate sites: prerequisites that all timber used in construction is legally harvested and traded and that national health and safety legislation is implemented in design, pre-construction planning, site set-up and construction (the minimum standard at every rating); one credit where the principal contractor holds third-party certification for its environmental management system and implements best-practice pollution prevention on site; one credit for a Sustainability Champion (site) monitoring the project through construction; up to two credits for considerate construction assessed against the manual's checklist (Excellent needs one, Outstanding two); and two credits for monitoring the site's energy and water use and the transport of its materials and waste against targets, and reporting on them.
