BREEAM - Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Hea 03: Hea 03 Safe containment in laboratories

For buildings with laboratories: one credit where an objective risk assessment of the laboratory facilities is completed before developed design and containment devices (for example microbiological safety cabinets, fume cupboards, glove boxes, clean air hoods and extension arms) are manufactured and installed to the national best-practice standards or to EN 14175, EN 12469, EN ISO 14644-7 and PD CEN/TR 16589, with ducted devices discharging at an appropriate velocity; further credits (building type dependent) for containment areas and facilities designed and tested to the higher containment levels required by the risk assessment.
