School, ELICOS and Foundation Program providers must have a documented attendance policy with at least 80 percent of scheduled contact hours (or higher under state law), a method for calculating it, recording processes, an intervention strategy for students absent more than five consecutive days without approval or at risk, and a way to decide when attendance has failed. Providers of all sectors must have documented progress policies stating requirements, recording and assessment, intervention and the point of failure; higher education and VET policies must also protect academic integrity and address misconduct. VET providers monitor attendance (minimum 80 percent, same policy elements) only if their registration condition requires it.
