A person does not, without reasonable excuse, refuse or fail to comply with an inspector's requirement, made on entry to a workplace, to say who has custody of or access to a document, to produce a document (by written notice unless immediate access is needed), or to answer questions, or with a written notice given within 30 days after the entry requiring production of specified documents, written answers, or attendance to answer questions in person or by audiovisual or audio link. Interviews are in private if the inspector considers it appropriate or the interviewee asks. Self-incrimination is addressed by ss 172 and 173 and legal professional privilege by s 269.
