Schedule 1 Part 2: other essential principles (clauses 7 to 15) – Australia Therapeutic Goods (Medical Devices) Regulations 2002

Australia Therapeutic Goods (Medical Devices) Regulations 2002 sch1-9: Essential principle 9: make the device safe in combination with other devices and equipment and remove or minimise physical, environmental, interference, maintenance, ageing, accuracy-loss, fire or explosion and waste disposal risks

What does sch1-9 require?

A device meant to be used with another device or equipment, including a connection system, must be designed so that the combination works safely and neither party's intended performance is impaired. As far as practicable the device must also be designed to remove or minimise injury from its physical features; risks from reasonably foreseeable environmental conditions; reciprocal interference with other devices normally used in the same investigation or treatment; risks where maintenance or calibration is impossible; ageing of materials; loss of accuracy of measuring or control mechanisms; fire or explosion in normal use and single fault conditions (especially near flammable or combustion-supporting substances); and disposal of waste substances.
