Schedule 1 Part 2: other essential principles (clauses 7 to 15) – Australia Therapeutic Goods (Medical Devices) Regulations 2002

Australia Therapeutic Goods (Medical Devices) Regulations 2002 sch1-10: Essential principle 10: a device with a measuring function must measure accurately, precisely and stably within stated limits, use ergonomic scales and express results in Australian legal units or Secretary-approved units

What does sch1-10 require?

Measuring devices must deliver readings that are accurate, precise and stable inside the tolerances the manufacturer declares for the intended purpose. Its measurement, monitoring and display scales must follow ergonomic principles. Readings are to be given in Australia's legal measurement units (or calibrated against at least one reference point in them) or, where the National Measurement Act 1960 prescribes no legal unit for the quantity, in a unit the Secretary has approved in writing for the device. A Class I device with a measuring function also needs an extra conformity assessment step under regulation 3.9(3).
