Schedule 1 Part 2: other essential principles (clauses 7 to 15) – Australia Therapeutic Goods (Medical Devices) Regulations 2002

Australia Therapeutic Goods (Medical Devices) Regulations 2002 sch1-7.5-7.7: Essential principles 7.5 to 7.7: minimise risks from substances leaching out, from unintended ingress or egress of substances, and from released particles, with particular attention to nanomaterials

What does sch1-7.5-7.7 require?

Design and production must keep low the risk from anything that can leach out of the device, the risk from substances accidentally entering or escaping it in its use environment, and the risk from particles, judged by their size and properties, that the device sheds or may shed into the body of a patient or user, taking special care with nanomaterials. The particle requirement does not apply where particles contact intact skin only.
