Australia RACGP Standards for General Practices (5th edition) C3.5: Work health and safety: the practice supports the safety, health and wellbeing of its team, and encourages team members to obtain the immunisations the Australian Immunisation Handbook recommends for their duties and immunisation status

What does C3.5 require?

The practice is a workplace and the team's safety is a duty. The practice identifies workplace hazards such as needlestick injury, exposure to infectious disease, aggression from patients, manual handling and fatigue, puts controls in place and tells staff how to report incidents and injuries. It supports team wellbeing, for example through fair rostering, debriefing after difficult events and access to support services. It encourages each team member to be immunised as the current Australian Immunisation Handbook recommends for health care workers in their role, offers information about the vaccines and keeps a record of staff immunisation status with consent.
