Core Standard 3 Practice governance and management – Australia RACGP Standards for General Practices (5th edition)

Australia RACGP Standards for General Practices (5th edition) C3.2: Accountability and responsibility: every team member understands their role, has performance discussions, and is inducted into the practice's systems; one team member leads risk management and one coordinates complaint resolution

What does C3.2 require?

Clear roles keep a practice safe. Each person on the team has a position description or an equivalent understanding of their duties and reporting lines. The practice holds regular performance discussions with each team member and records them. New starters are inducted into the practice's policies, systems and processes, including privacy, infection control and emergency procedures, before working unsupervised. The practice names a person with lead responsibility for risk management systems and a person who coordinates the resolution of complaints; the roles may sit with the same individual in a small practice.
