Part 2-3: corporate plans, budget estimates, performance records and statements, accounts, financial statements, audit, audit committee and annual report (sections 33 to 49) – Australia Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act)

Australia Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act) 43: Audit of the annual financial statements: the Auditor-General examines the statements and reports to the responsible Minister, and a copy of the statements and the audit report must be included in the entity's tabled annual report

What does 43 require?

On receiving the annual financial statements the Auditor-General examines them without delay, prepares an audit report and passes it to the responsible Minister, stating an opinion on whether the statements meet the accounting standards and rule requirements and present the entity's financial position, performance and cash flows fairly, with reasons for any contrary view and, where practicable, the quantified financial effect of any non-compliance. The entity's annual report tabled in the Parliament must carry a copy of both the financial statements and the Auditor-General's report.
