Australia Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025
Schedule 2 Division 5: Dealing with credit information (transfers, disclosures, security, use limits, fraud bans, direct marketing) – Australia Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025

Australia Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025 17(7)-(10): Warn the individual at least 5 business days before a ban ends, relay extension requests to notified bodies, and limit the evidence sought for an extension to what the individual's answers make reasonable

A body must notify the individual not less than 5 business days before a ban period ends of the end date, the right to extend, and what information if any the body needs to support the fraud allegation. An individual seeking an extension may consent to the first body relaying the request and supporting material to the bodies it previously notified, which must treat it as made directly. In deciding whether there are reasonable grounds to believe the individual has been or is likely to be a fraud victim, the body may ask why they believe so and why they want the extension, and may ask for more only where those answers or the circumstances indicate reasonable grounds to believe they are not a victim.
