If an autoclave or other heat treatment (the LWTS included, if there is one) is needed for decontamination, a time and temperature combination validated as effective for the particular kind of GMO must be used. The guideline notes that the transport, storage and disposal guidelines set out methods for validating autoclaves, and that C68 requires monitoring, calibration and effectiveness records for heat-based equipment.
