Australia OGTR Guidelines for Certification of a PC2 Animal Facility (Version 3.2) B19: Testing biological safety cabinets

What does B19 require?

This condition applies only where dealings there use GM micro-organisms. Every biological safety cabinet of Class I or Class II that is installed and used for GMO procedures must be inspected and tested by a qualified person against the performance requirements in Section 5.2 of AS 2252.1 (headed critical for cabinet function) for Class I, or Section 5.2 of AS 2252.2 (headed critical performance tests for cabinet function) for Class II. Testing is needed at least every 12 months and again after a cabinet is relocated, after any mechanical or electrical maintenance on it, and after its HEPA filters are replaced.
