Part 2: The NDIS Code of Conduct (section 6) – Australia NDIS Code of Conduct Rules 2018

Australia NDIS Code of Conduct Rules 2018 s6-1-a: s 6(1)(a) Respect rights to freedom of expression, self-determination and decision-making

In providing supports or services to people with disability, every provider, key person and worker acts with respect for the person's rights to freedom of expression, self-determination and decision-making, in line with applicable laws and conventions (the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities among them). The Commission's guidance reads this as supporting people to make their own decisions, communicating in a form and language they understand so they can make their will and preferences known, and taking account of their values and beliefs, including culture, faith, gender identity, sexuality and age.
