Velocity in heated water pipework up to 65 degrees Celsius must not exceed 3.0 metres per second for at least 99 per cent of peak hour demand in non-circulatory systems, 1.2 metres per second on the flow and 1.0 on the return of a copper circulatory service, and 2.0 on the flow and 1.0 on the return of a circulatory service in other materials. Explanatory information links high velocity to erosion and corrosion of pipework. Deemed-to-Satisfy is installation to AS/NZS 3500.4.
