Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Risk of Falls at Workplaces 4.2d: 4.2 Provide safe entry and exit to and around the solid construction

The solid construction must have a safe way to enter, leave and move around, such as permanent platforms, ramps, stairways or fixed ladders (AS 1657 gives design detail). Consider weather exposure of access systems, natural or artificial lighting of access ways, and keeping routes clear of obstructions. Portable stepladders and trestle ladders should not be used for entry or exit, and single or extension ladders only where safer systems are not reasonably practicable.
