Eliminating work at height is the most effective protection, and a PCBU may move to minimising the risk only where eliminating it is not reasonably practicable. Examples of tasks moved to the ground include prefabricating roofs, building wall frames flat and standing them up, installing air conditioning at ground level, mechanical tarp spreaders for truck loads, lowering shelving, extendable-handle tools (weighing any musculoskeletal risk), lowering fittings such as chandeliers for repair, and placing tank and silo outlets, inlets and controls near the ground.
