When planning the site layout, provide firm level surfaces under work areas for plant such as elevating work platforms and mobile scaffolds; site access roads so plant can deliver and collect material where it is needed, reducing manual handling at height; provide safe access to and exit from work areas and amenities, with stairways, ladders, catwalks, guardrails and barriers placed accordingly; and keep a direct, unobstructed route for escape and rescue.
