Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work 5.2e: 5.2 Control the psychosocial risks created by management action

Management action such as dealing with unsatisfactory performance or poor behaviour is a necessary part of running a business, and may be needed to control hazards, for example where poor performance increases demands on others. The PCBU must also eliminate or minimise, so far as is reasonably practicable, the psychosocial risks within that process. It can do so by first addressing the psychosocial hazards that contribute to unsatisfactory performance or poor behaviour, such as lack of support or training, lack of role clarity and poor relationships, and by designing the management process to limit risk, for example applying policies transparently and fairly to address poor organisational justice and conducting the process respectfully and constructively.
