Chapter 1 Introduction: duty holders, the risk management process, consultation, information, training, instruction and supervision – Australia Model Code of Practice Managing Noise and Preventing Hearing Loss at Work

Australia Model Code of Practice Managing Noise and Preventing Hearing Loss at Work 1.1-OFFICERS: Officers exercise due diligence to ensure the PCBU complies, including reasonable steps to secure appropriate resources and processes to eliminate or minimise noise risk

What does 1.1-OFFICERS require?

Under section 27 of the WHS Act officers, company directors for example, must exercise due diligence to ensure the PCBU complies with the Act and Regulations, which includes taking reasonable steps to ensure the business has and uses appropriate resources and processes to eliminate or minimise the risks from hazardous noise. Safe Work Australia's interpretive guideline on the officer's duty gives further detail. Workers for their part must take reasonable care for themselves and others, follow reasonable instructions and policies and, where PPE is provided, use or wear it as instructed; other persons at the workplace must take reasonable care and follow reasonable instructions.
