Regular inspection and observation, including of the online working environment, helps find what could go wrong. Points to look at include whether the environment lets workers move freely with adequate ventilation and lighting; how work is performed and its physical, mental and emotional demands; how suitable and well maintained tools and equipment are; how people interact; changes such as relocation or a move to hybrid or home working; and hazards that arrive with new, used or hired goods. Immediate or significant danger should be handled first by moving people to safety, and the cause then followed up. A list of all hazards, including those already controlled, should be kept and updated.
