The insurer recognises that age, disability, injury, mental or physical health, difficulty with language or literacy, cultural background, living remotely, being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, family violence, suicidal risk and money troubles can create vulnerability, commits to extra care, and treats the customer and their family, carer or support person with empathy, compassion and respect. Because of the cultural practice of gratuitous concurrence, additional care is taken with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people buying funeral or other life insurance so that consent is genuine. A record is kept of any ongoing support a customer requires.
