AS/NZS 3760:2022 In-Service Safety Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment and RCDs 2.2: 2.2 Frequency of inspection and tests

Equipment must be inspected and tested: at the intervals in Table 2.4 for its environment and equipment type, allowing a tolerance of two weeks, or at intervals the responsible person varies on the basis of a risk assessment (regulators, other standards, workplace rules or manufacturers may set shorter or longer periods, and some jurisdictions limit the duty to particular work such as construction or hostile environments); when it comes back after a repair or service that might have changed its electrical safety (AS/NZS 5762 may apply); and before it is put into service after being bought second-hand, applying AS/NZS 5761. An organisation with enough expertise and resources may substitute its own periods for those in Table 2.4 after a documented risk assessment following the AS/NZS ISO 31000 process and taking account of applicable legislation and guidance. That risk-assessment route is not available for equipment offered for hire, because the hirer does not control how the equipment is used.
