Because well over nine in ten defects can be seen, each item is looked at, handled and checked, and electrically tested, as Section 2 sets out. How often depends on the kind of equipment and on an examination of where it is used: Table 2.4 column (a) lists indicative environments, but a single site usually contains several sub-environments, so the responsible person arrives at the frequency through a risk assessment of the actual place of use. Where equipment is supplied through a cord set, the cord set and the equipment are each tested and tagged separately.
