Plastics cold water services are limited to ABS, PB, PE, PE-X, multilayer pipe, PVC-U, PVC-M, PVC-O and PP; firefighting services to PVC-C, PVC-U, PVC-M, PVC-O and PE. Pipes in direct sunlight must be protected unless solid black PE or PE-X or ABS (coloured, striped or jacketed PE and PE-X, and PVC, PB, PP and multilayer pipes, need protection such as sleeving or lagging). Plastics pipe may not carry the weight of valves, meters or other pipework. Minimum pressure class is PN 12 for cold water, PN 16 for firefighting, and for sprinklers PN 12 above ground and PN 16 below.
