Limits apply to all pipes and fittings in water services: up to DN 100 they must be rated for a maximum allowable operating pressure no lower than 1.2 MPa (at 20 degrees C), and above DN 100 they are chosen to meet the system's design criteria; bends must not be wrinkled or flattened; braided hoses and semi-flexible connectors may be used only above surface level where they can be reached; pipes and fittings are kept away from external heat that would shorten their life; and new joints may not be made with soft solder (repairs to old joints should use solder with no more than 0.1 per cent lead).
