Six-monthly: all monthly activities, run electric pumps off any alternative power supply for at least 3 minutes, and check hydro-pneumatic accumulator air pressure. Yearly (hose reel pumpsets excluded): annual full flow load test, run with the pump room shut and the tester in attendance. Diesel: run at shut-off for 10 minutes to reach temperature, at 130% of the duty flow for 10 minutes, then at duty flow long enough to record the water supply proving results, then back to shut-off until the total run reaches 30 minutes, recording suction and discharge pressure, engine temperature, oil pressure, intake air temperature (a pump room rise over 10 degrees C above ambient suggests inadequate ventilation) and RPM on both the fitted and a calibrated tachometer, while checking bearings and gland leakage; simulate an engine fail-to-start to prove crank cycling and alarms; test priming tanks. Electric: shut-off 3 minutes, 130% of duty flow for 4 minutes, duty flow for the proving results, then shut-off to a 10 minute total, recording pressures, motor air temperature, RPM and current on all three phases without exceeding full load current. Also: check all batteries and replace only with AS 4029 series batteries; replace engine start batteries at no more than 2 years regardless of condition and record the date; discharge test control batteries not replaced in two years (Appendix F); record charger output; diesel servicing (oil and filters, fuel condition, hoses, coolant flush and pressure test, cooling pressure-reducing valves, heat exchanger strainers, coupling, bearings and gearbox oil); electric pump contact, coupling and bearing inspection with power isolated; non-return valves; corrosion survey; relief valve setting; overspeed shutdown; variable speed control at 50% and 100% of duty flow without exceeding duty head by more than 10%; remote start and stop indications.
