AS 1851:2012 Routine Service of Fire Protection Systems and Equipment 2.4.4: 2.4.4 Deluge and water spray system service schedules

Deluge and water spray systems receive every applicable wet pipe activity plus: monthly, record pilot line, diaphragm line and below-stop-valve pressures, check compressor oil and regulator settings, inspect and test electrical detection to Section 6, confirm detector sprinkler line valves are correctly positioned, confirm the compressor switches on and off at its set pressures, test solenoid valves, verify low air pressure alarms, and generate a local and brigade alarm test. Six-monthly, with the isolation valve above the deluge valve closed where fitted, operate each deluge valve by each installed means of release, confirm alarm within 30 s and brigade signalling, then reset the valve, restore detector line pressure, reopen and secure valves and restore the control unit and FIP or ASE. Yearly, conduct a full discharge test where practicable to confirm open sprinklers and nozzles are clear and give proper coverage, sample foam concentrate or premix to NFPA 11, clean foam and pilot line strainers, test electrical detection to Section 6 yearly requirements, and survey hangers, nozzle alignment, dust caps and whether the layout still suits the hazard. Five-yearly, renew deluge valve seats and seals, fit a new diaphragm unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise, and generate foam to check proportioning ratio, 25% drainage time and expansion ratio.
