A step ramp has a rise of no more than 190 mm, is no longer than 1900 mm and is no steeper than 1 in 10, is built to the step ramp figures, and has a slip-resistant surface. Where people walk across it the edges are splayed at 45 degrees; elsewhere they are protected by a wall or barrier at least 450 mm high or, with an open balustrade, a kerb or kerb rail. The 2021 edition gives edges their own sub-clause (7.6.2).
