AASB 1 First-time Adoption of Australian Accounting Standards
Optional exemptions from other Standards (paragraphs 18 and 19, Appendices C, D and E) – AASB 1 First-time Adoption of Australian Accounting Standards

AASB 1 First-time Adoption of Australian Accounting Standards D12-D13A: Cumulative translation differences: may be reset to zero at the transition date, so that later disposal gains exclude pre-transition differences; a subsidiary using the parent's amounts may use the parent's translation differences

What does D12-D13A require?

Instead of reconstructing the translation differences that AASB 121 would have accumulated in a separate equity component, the entity may deem them to be zero at the transition date, with the gain or loss on any later disposal of a foreign operation then excluding differences that arose before that date. A subsidiary that elects the parent's consolidated carrying amounts for its assets and liabilities may carry the cumulative translation differences that the parent recognised for it, adjusted for the parent's own transition treatment, instead of applying the reset or the full reconstruction.
