AASB 1 First-time Adoption of Australian Accounting Standards
Optional exemptions from other Standards (paragraphs 18 and 19, Appendices C, D and E) – AASB 1 First-time Adoption of Australian Accounting Standards

AASB 1 First-time Adoption of Australian Accounting Standards 18-19,C1,D1,E: Elective exemptions: choose any of the Appendix C, D and E exemptions, document each election and never extend an exemption by analogy to other items

What does 18-19,C1,D1,E require?

The entity may take one or more of the exemptions in Appendices C to E. Each is a discrete election covering a named area (past business combinations; share-based payment, deemed cost, leases, cumulative translation differences, investments in subsidiaries and equity-accounted investees, subsidiary and parent timing, compound instruments, designation of financial instruments, fair value at initial recognition, decommissioning liabilities, service concessions, borrowing costs, extinguishing liabilities with equity, severe hyperinflation, joint arrangements, stripping costs, own-use contracts, revenue and foreign currency advance consideration; and the short-term reliefs in Appendix E). An exemption cannot be stretched by analogy to an item it does not name.
