Section 4: Construction and decommissioning – World Bank Group General EHS Guidelines

World Bank Group General EHS Guidelines 4.2: 4.2 Construction and decommissioning: occupational health and safety

Construction and decommissioning sites control the hazards that are common there. Over-exertion and ergonomic injury are managed by training in lifting and materials handling; slips, trips and falls and working at heights by fall protection, covers and marking of openings; struck-by hazards by designated restricted drop zones and protection against ejected particles; moving machinery and traffic; dust, noise, vibration and excavations by slope stability controls, safe access and egress, and control of combustion equipment in excavations; and electrical, confined space and demolition hazards. These build on section 2 and are specific to the construction or decommissioning phase.
