Division 11 defines a psychosocial hazard as one arising from or relating to the design or management of work, a work environment, plant at a workplace or workplace interactions or behaviours that may cause psychological harm, and a psychosocial risk as the resulting risk to health or safety. A business must manage psychosocial risks under Part 3.1 (other than the hierarchy regulation), implementing controls to eliminate the risks so far as reasonably practicable and otherwise minimise them, having regard to the duration, frequency and severity of exposure, how hazards interact, the design of work and job demands, the systems of work, the design, layout and environment of the workplace (safe entry and exit, welfare facilities) and of workers' accommodation covered by section 19(4) of the Act, the plant, substances and structures present, workplace interactions and behaviours, and the information, training, instruction and supervision given to workers.
