Chapter 3: General risk and workplace management – Western Australia Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022

Western Australia Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 40-41B: General working environment: layout, lighting, ventilation, heat and cold, seating, facilities and accessible entry and exit

What does 40-41B require?

A business must ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, that the workplace layout allows safe entry and exit and safe movement, that floors and surfaces are safe, that there is enough space, lighting, ventilation and a safe level of temperature and air quality, and that work practices protect workers from extremes of heat and cold with heating and cooling provided in structures where practicable. Adequate and properly designed seating must be provided for work done sitting, and adequate facilities (toilets, drinking water, washing, eating and rest areas, and emergency and first aid access) must be provided and maintained, taking account of the workers, the work and the workplace.
