The business must have an emergency plan for the workplace covering emergency procedures (effective response, evacuation, notification of emergency services, medical treatment and assistance, and effective communication between the coordinator and all persons at the workplace), testing of the procedures and how often, and information, training and instruction for workers in implementing them. The plan must be maintained so it remains effective, considering the kind of work, its hazards, how big and how remote the workplace is, and the people there.
