Chapter 3: General risk and workplace management – Western Australia Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022

Western Australia Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 51-53: Hazardous atmospheres, ignition sources and accumulation of flammable and combustible material

What does 51-53 require?

A business must manage the risk from a hazardous atmosphere (flammable, oxygen-deficient or oxygen-enriched, or containing airborne contaminants above exposure standards or at concentrations that may be harmful) and must keep ignition sources out of any atmosphere that is, or could become, hazardous because of flammable or combustible substances unless the source is part of a system installed and controlled for use there. Flammable or combustible material must not be allowed to accumulate in quantities or in places that create a risk of fire or explosion.
