The AEO provides identified, accessible local or corporate contact points for Customs matters, exchanges information openly with Customs (directly or via an association), notifies Customs of unusual or suspicious documentation or abnormal information requests, and promptly notifies Customs and other authorities when staff find illegal, suspicious or unaccounted-for cargo, securing it. Customs sets procedures for queries and suspected offences, runs regular stakeholder consultation, gives performance feedback on request, provides contact numbers and gives advance notice of programme changes.
